Did it happen on 5th Avenue?
Or 34th Street?
Somewhere in Connecticut, I know
Perhaps it was at the shop
You know, the one just around the corner
Ah, I can still remember the night
Then, that Christmas
Carol, the bishop's wife
And that football ref
Who took a few days off
(and came to dinner)
A vacation
Around Christmas
Just a bunch of mixed nuts
Now it's true that
We're no angels
And old habits die hard
So we nicked a few
EL Fudges
But it's not like we stole Christmas,
(Like someone I could mention)
Still we jumped when
The bells of St Mary started ringing,
Jingling all the way down the street
Our faces turned ghostly white
Polar expressions
Yes, Christmas gremlins were we
Real bad Santas
We thought we were scrooged
But we were saved in earnest
We were found an escape clause
By our deer friend, Prancer
So that's our Christmas story
Our holiday affair
Sometimes I think that it's such
A wonderful life
Even when simply staying
Home alone with you
At Christmastime
And watching TV
